NHL picks for April 1, 2017

There are plenty of games to choose from tonight for sports bettors and DFS players. Let’s zero in on a couple of games that might be worth a closer look from a value perspective.

Ottawa Senators +128 at Winnipeg Jets

The Ottawa Senators aren’t in danger of falling out of the playoffs quite yet, but their cushion is getting a little less comforting after a recent losing streak. With this game against the Jets and two against the Red Wings They should be a tough out tonight, even without Erik Karlsson in the lineup. The Winnipeg Jets, meanwhile, have nothing left to play for and have some key guys who are banged up. They look vulnerable here.

Dallas Stars +147 at Carolina Hurricanes

Now here’s a case where motivation factors and the actual line are out of whack. Yes, the Hurricanes are playing for their lives and the Stars have been really, really bad this season, but we’re still talking about Seguin, Benn et al against maybe the worst goaltending tandem in the league. A +147 line looks fat here.
